At 8:00 pm IST on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, IPN is honored to introduce a new book published by an invited fellow member, Avishek Parui, who is is an Assistant Professor in English at IIT Madras and Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. He is also the founding chairperson of the Indian Network for Memory Studies and the Principal Investigator of the
Centre for Memory Studies, IIT Madras.
The book, titled Culture and the Literary: Matter, Metaphor and Memory is a far-reaching exploration of the place of the literary in consolidating, critiquing, and estranging subjectivities in the production and consumption of culture. Historically situated in a
chronotope leading from 19th c. colonial modernity to our times, it provokes important questions related to posthumanism. The introduction of the book and its themes will be facilitated through a conversation between the co-founder of IPN, Samrat Sengupta, and the author. This will be followed by an open discussion with the members of IPN.
The event also marks the inauguration of the Youtube channel of the Indian Posthumanism Network.
